ISS Facility Services is the daily caterer of the Danish armed forces' more than 20,000 employees in more than 70 canteens across the country. The Armed Forces is a workplace manned 24/7, all year round. It requires a canteen design geared to accommodate a changeable daily rhythm.
Expedit gave the canteens a functional design lift that supports ISS 'efforts to make lunch a food experience and a welcome break from work. The first canteen solutions have already been installed and have been embraced by both catering staff and canteen users.

HEAVY USE CANTEEN GEAR
Canteen design doesn’t work unless it is well-thought-out. It’s all about identifying when design needs to streamline everyday use situations and cleanability, and when it serves a higher purpose of raising the lunch break to a food experience and a stimulating break from the chores.

RAW CANTEEN DESIGN
Expedit's design team is specialized in customized interior design solutions that rise above the purely functional. Good design also tells a story and conveys the values of an organization. And the armed forces got plenty of values, which traditionally have a raw, masculine, outdoor image, which they wanted to portray in the new canteen design.
“EVERYWHERE WE LOOK, WE GET NOTHING BUT POSITIVE FEEDBACK ON EXPEDIT'S SOLUTION”

SCALABLE MODULAR CONCEPT
Strict food authority requirements on hygiene and cleaning put heavy demands on materials properties. Expedit delivered a scalable modular concept with melamine surfaces that are easy to clean. Shelf edges, racks, display cabinets and dump bins are all designed in a rough, outdoor look with a robustness to stand the daily use, in modules easily adaptable to different room sizes.
